This tale skillfully transports us across the realm, soaring through time with a myriad of magical beings, each bringing another missing sliver of their history pre-war & right back to the present. Be prepared for a darker journey in this age old battle of good vs. evil, magic vs. mortals, with a few taboo & triggering (for some) situations & sensitive topics. All well written & relevant to the era & stories entailed …. never too dark, simply adding to the individual characters’ roles, views, or experiences. This really is a great book!! There is so much happening within each border that kept my attention from the different backgrounds to learn & all the quirky, aggravating, & snarky attitudes involving all characters from royal families to vampires, shifters, fae, dragons, witches, & even mortals being held, brainwashed, & used. We are quickly brought up to date without skipping a beat, & you already know you’re being left begging for more! Book 2 …. I need you!!
