Quick Eerie Treat!, November 6, 2020
Lost Souls, my introduction to this author...and what a great introduction it was! She did not disappoint!! If you are looking for a quick eerie treat you have found it! A spooky tale of teen fun gone wrong with a chilling twist that I did not see coming. I enjoyed getting to know a bit about these characters, & even though short it did not feel rushed at all. Their story flowed nicely & consistently. Perfect for listening to at work or in the car. The narrator also did a good job bringing the characters to life. I really enjoyed listening to this, & look forward to more stories by this author.

Bad Things Blog Tour

Bad Things by WiIlow Cross
Publication Date: December 18, 2014
Creepy crawlies, dark shadows, hideous monsters secreted under your bed... Bad Things is a collection of paranormal stories that will make your skin crawl and heart race. Do you sleep with the light on? Maybe you should...
They come at night
When the moon grows dark
To steal your treasures
And weaken your heart

An empty bed
Is all that remains
If the Bad Things decide
To visit again

Mommies take care
Watch your young as they slumber
For babies and children
The Bad Things do hunger

Check closets and attics
And under all beds
If the Bad Things come calling
You’ll wish you were dead.

“Scott!” I yelled.
Still nothing.
Then fearing he’d totally lost it, I screamed, “Damn it, Scott!  Put me down!”His head shook and he snapped out of it.  Dazed at first, he almost whispered as he spoke.  “Candy?”
“Put me down.”
He glanced first at his arms, then up at my face as if he hadn’t even realized he’d been carrying me.  Without any sort of warning, his arms dropped, releasing his hold.  Scrambling to land on my feet, I grabbed his shirt to steady myself.
His head careened forward and he whispered in my ear.  “He’s still back there.  I can feel him.”I peered around him, and there at the edge of woods stood the silhouette.
“He’s there, isn’t he?”  Scott asked.
I nodded.
His shaking hands fiddled in his pockets as he pulled out his keys.  “We have to run.  We have to get to the car and get out of here.  Don’t stop and don’t look back.”
The shadowy figure took a step forward as I once again nodded.
I’ve never ran that fast in my entire life.  Not before that night and most certainly not since.  Gravel flew as he tore onto the road and as we sped away, I swear I saw the dark figure step out onto the road.
We didn’t stop at the first house, or the second.  In fact, we didn’t stop for miles.  Even if he’d wanted to stop, I think I’d have tried to talk him out of it.  When we finally entered a less rural area, Scott said, “It got Dave.  Must have taken him when we split up.
”It was only then that I realized Dave should have been in the car with us.

5 Star!!!!! Holy $#!+ Willow scared the bejeeezus out of me like 10 times!!!!! I really love that it all flowed into another building up for the next story. It didn't feel like some collections where each story is completely different from the others. And I love the sci-fi twist thrown in with the other worlds & realms, & the Egyptian "guardian" addition was screaming at my inner historian to come out & play. What a real reading treat! It's been awhile since I read a really scary story that wasn't filled with gore & violence. Thanks, Willow!! <3 font="">
And btw that whole 13 Graves felt soooooo real! I was practically running through the field with them!! Aaaaaaaarghhhh!

The White Door ~ Review

The White Door
(Book 3 in the Visitor's Series)
by Christy Sloat
Blurb:
The haunting third book in the Best Selling Visitors Series.
“When I first moved here I was still a girl who cherished the normality of teen life. Now, after being here a year I had come to love a boy who was both strong and courageous. I made real friendships that would last even after death. The selfish girl my grandmother warned me of becoming had vanished. A girl who stood tall, with the powers to see the dead and help those in need, appeared in her place.”
In Brylee’s world, nothing is normal. She sees and speaks with the dead and, at seventeen years old, she already has a full plate. She’s in her senior year of high school and college is just around the corner, but only if she learns to control her gifts and survive in the land of the living.
She has succeeded in ridding her boyfriend, Ephraim, from the Brown family curse, but, in the end, her best friend loses her life. Now a whole slew of new problems present itself and, like always, Brylee is tempted to run for the hills. With Ephraim at her side, she must come to grips with the reality that she is not an average girl and she never will be.
What will happen when the town turns on her? Or, better yet, when a body is unearthed in her backyard? The choices that Brylee must make will determine whether she has a future or nothing at all.

My Review:

5 Stars
I highly suggest this series for any paranormal lover!!!!, February 18, 2014

Now here's a fabulously suspenseful YA paranormal book!!  It just continues to get better & better. Honestly, I have been hooked since The Brown House although out of the four books in this series this has been by far my favorite! I highly suggest this series for any paranormal lover!!!! I read them in this order: The Brown House (Book 1), The Crimson Key (Book 2), Unfound (Novella), & The White Door (Book 3).  The Brown House had the perfect amount of fear factor mixed with so many other emotions, introducing us to the crucial characters while ensuring we'd come back for more. The Crimson Key was even better & brought out a few new characters I grew to love (& a few I loved to hate.) Unfound totally WOWed me, & I am hopeful Christy will bring us a few more novellas for the other characters we can't get enough of. Now...The White Door was so much more than I'd hoped it would be. We are transported into Brylee's world as we experience everything 1st hand. The characters are more intense than ever before, & several answers are unearthed. Now don't you think I'm ready to say goodbye to anyone! It's too soon & there's so much more I want to know. Here's hoping Sloat plans to continue this series as I will soon need my next Brylee & Ephraim fix. I see so many options of greatness to come. Can't wait for more!
