Retaliation Blog Tour

Retaliation by Imogen Rose
Bonfire Chronicles ~ Book #3
Publication Date: March 15, 2015

Ever since Bloody Fall, humans have lived in fear.

Even though the apparently senseless massacres have ended, President Elizabeth Ryan's administration has been under a cloud of disapproval for failing to bring the terrorists to justice.

She braces herself as a new spate of carnage is unleashed.

Cordelia and Faustine are recruited back into action as the supernatural agencies go on high alert. Has their nemesis re-emerged?

Her best yet!, March 30, 2015
With each new adventure I fall deeper in love with these characters. Each one reminding me why I love them so. Cordelia & Jagger are still my favorites, but I always enjoy Faustine & the others as well. Watching them grow up & mature is fascinating (& sometimes infuriating). I simply can not get enough of this fantastically complex world Imogen has created. And sheesh does she know how to leave us begging for more!?! This is definitely the best yet, & I can't wait for the next journey!

I kneeled down for a better look. Whatever it was, it was clearly alive, and it shirked away, obviously frightened out of its wits. Could it be one of those pets humans liked to keep around? I transformed back to my human state so the poor little thing wouldn’t have a heart attack. “Here,” I whispered gently. “I’m not going to hurt you. Come on out.”
“Demon?” a little voice whispered. It was clearly something supernatural.

“Yep, you?”

“Troll.”

Troll? I’d never met a timid one before. “What are you doing here?”

“I sorta live here.”

“Can you come out?”

The troll scurried from behind the vent, crawled out of the fireplace, and stood up beside the couch. It couldn’t have been more than eight inches tall. I’d never seen one so small before. It was clearly female, with a pink bow attached to her unkempt blond Afro. She was rather grubby, I guessed from her journey through the fireplace. She wore little green dungarees bedazzled with pink rhinestones. And she had the most enormous green eyes that seemed to glow. “What’s your name?”

“I don’t have one.” Now that she wasn’t whispering, her voice sounded like a bee trying to speak human. “None of the underground trolls do,” she continued. “I guess we’re not important enough.” She lowered her eyelash-devoid eyelids, her lips trembling.

I touched her hand gently with my finger. “What would you like to be called, if you could choose your own name?”

“Anything?”

“Yes, anything at all.”

“Humm. That’s hard. It’s hard to commit to a name. What’s yours?”

“Cordelia.”

“Huh? That’s kind of old-fashioned. Where did that come from?”

Old-fashioned? That troll cheekiness didn’t take long to surface. “Cordelia is a family name; I’m named after my grandmamma. I like it, and wouldn’t want to be called anything else.”

“None of my family have ever had names,” she said, her lower lip trembling again. “Each subterranean troll family has a number, assigned by the Don. Then each family member gets given a letter. I am 4695h.”

“That doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. Tell you what. Pick a name you want me to call you, and if you don’t like it, you can change it as many times as you want until you find one that’s ‘you.’”

“Humm.” She looked confused. “I can’t think of any nice names. Can you pick one for me?”

“Sure. How about…” I tried to think of a simple one, since she was unfamiliar with names. “Lucy?”

She nodded slowly. “I can… maybe… do that… Lucy.”

“Well, Lucy. What are you doing here?”

“Like I said, I live here. When I don’t live at home, that is. Do you want to see the room I sleep in when the demons are not around? It’s the same one that Dorian uses.”

“Sure, in a moment. Which demons are you talking about?”

“Dorian and his soap buddies mostly. And his son, Luke. I like Luke. He’s kinda hot.”

“When was the last time they were here?”

“Dorian was here a couple of hours ago.” She started fidgeting, lowering her eyelids and shifting from leg to leg.

“Do you know where he went?”

She shook her head. Then she pursed her lips.

“What is it?”

She stared at her feet.

“Lucy?”

She smiled. “I like that.”

“Focus, Lucy. Tell me everything. What’s with the odd expression?”

“Well,” she whispered, her voice so low that I had to bend down to hear her, “something bad happened.”

“Like?”

She raised her hands. “I don’t know.”

“Come on, Lucy! How do you know something bad happened, then?”

She suddenly crawled under the couch like a bug, and just as I was about to grab her tiny ankles and haul her out, she slithered back toward me—dragging something heavy.

I couldn’t get a good look at it. “What is that?”

“It’s Dorian’s arm,” she puffed, as I grabbed it, pulling it out—a bloody, shredded demon limb.

The Portal Chronicles Soundtrack Single!
About a year ago, when Imogen Rose, author of the cult bestselling series, the Portal Chronicles, was surfing YouTube she stumbled upon a song, “If We Fall” by SHE SAID SAVE ME, and instantly fell in love with both the lyrics and the male vocal. She put the song on her writing playlist and looked up the Toronto-based band on Facebook… and liked their page. A while later, Imogen received a PM from Joe Vercillo, saying that if her books were ever adapted for film or TV she should feel free to use his music. She had no idea who he was, but looked him up. Imagine her fan girl sqee moment when she discovered that he was the lead vocalist for SHE SAID SAVE ME! Imogen and Joe have been Facebook friends ever since.

The Portal Chronicles starts off with a serendipitous meeting in a London pub, which propels the lives of the characters into a time warp of what-ifs. During the prologue, which is the key to the story, Rupert is humming a song in that London pub where Olivia and he seal their fate. Imogen Rose always wondered what he was singing. Until late one night, when she closed her eyes and “heard” it. Imogen wrote the lyrics and SHE SAID SAVE ME put it to music.

What better day than Valentine’s Day to release this song that defines the romance that is PORTAL?

About The Series:
Winged
I fell from the Talmadge Bridge the week before I turned thirty. I was given a choice: Go to Heaven. Go back to my life in Savannah. Or spend eternity fighting evil under the direction of the archangels. I chose the demons--and the angels. I chose the Winged.

Uprising
In the last year, Joanne Watson has died, fallen in love, fought demons and earned her Wings. None of that compares to what's coming next.... Life as a member of the Winged isn't perfect--or easy. There's always some new camp drama. There's always a demon ready for a fight. There's always death. And now there's the Resistance.Joanne must choose again, this time between her fellow Winged and their burning desire for change or the archangels and the eternal vow she made. Even in the afterlife, one truth remains--everything ends.

Lost

In the last year, Joanne Watson has survived repeated attempts on her life, wholesale slaughter, and the dissolution on the cornerstone of her new existence. And the hard times are only beginning. As the line between right and wrong, friend and foe, and good and evil continue to blur, Joanne is forced to face another irrefutable fact. The most dangerous demons to fight are the ones you can't see.

Hunt

The last six months have seen more death and destruction than any could have predicted. And the war is only beginning. With the fight taking Joanne and her friends from city streets to abandoned farms to the center of the earth, only one thing is certain. The hunters are now the hunted.

 Alliance

The Fallen have one goal--storm the gates of Heaven and reclaim their heritage.
The Winged have one mission--to prevent it all costs.
From North America to Africa, Europe to South American, the stage is being set for the final battle, the one to end all worlds, and with it comes an ugly truth.
Keep your friends close--and your enemies closer.
Praise For The Winged Series EXCELLENT BOOK. THE characters are unforgettable and THE STORY LINE IS wonderful. Makes me think of the Bible and its stories of the Angels. Want to Get to Know Alliance better? Want to see a bit of the Ass-kicking action, tough chicks and hot guys? Check out this excerpt from L.M. Pruitt's latest  Alliance

“If we’re going to do this, we need to do it now.” Raquel’s voice in my ear startled me and I pulled too tight on Kaleanne’s strap. He waited until I rectified the mistake before continuing. “The longer we stand here, the more nervous this bunch will get.”

“Let’s go, then.” Stepping back, I resisted the urge to check my gun one last time. Looking at the six soldiers—I couldn’t in all fairness refer to them as recruits anymore—in front of me, I forced a smile. “Last one in the church has medic duty.”

Aron kicked the door open, blinding sunlight flooding the small room. Sketching a half bow in my direction, he said, “Ladies first.”

“Bet your ass.” I drew my gun as I sprinted out the door, finger on the trigger against every safety mandate. I caught sight of gray wings at the far right edge of my vision, ten or fifteen feet out. I pulled on the trigger with only the slightest of aims, barely feeling the recoil. The only indication I hit anything was the howl of pain and rage.

Hopefully it would prove a big enough distraction to aid the others. Even one second might make all the difference.

Something with tentacles and the head of a man charged from the left. I took the time to aim for the center of its forehead, firing two shots before continuing my sprint. One probably would have sufficed—the bullets were supernatural, guaranteed to impart maximum damage.

The tentacles just freaked me out.

I hesitated at the next target—only because of Barry. But when Delilah raised a sword as long as my torso, self-preservation overcame any possible sense of guilt. My only concession to her father was to aim for her shoulder—both of them, to be on the safe side. She dropped the sword and bent double, screaming, and I leaped over her.

“You shot my sister.” Aron drew level with me, not winded in the least despite the run. “You’re my father’s friend and you shot her.”

“Twice. His friend, not hers.” I took down another demon, something with honest to God horns and a tail. “Less talking, more shooting.

 My Review:
 5 Stars
Another jaw dropping story from one of my favorite authors! I simply can't get enough!!  A masterpiece containing every supernatural being I love. Imogen didn't miss a beat! Thankfully Uprising picks up right where Integration left off kicking it up a few more notches with more ...ummm... EVERYTHING! Honestly I was freaking out not knowing what was to come after the last book's cliffhanger. I always look forward to reading more about these characters regardless, & I just love Professor Bern with all of her spunk.  I absolutely adore the demon princesses, Faustine & Cordelia, & there's a certain fairy I'm quite addicted to as well.
Basically...If you're already a Bonfire Chronicles/Bonfire Academy fan then you're sure to enjoy this book even more than all of the others. If you're new to this fascinating series then prepare to be WOWed!!!

He felt as dead as she looked. With each blow to her lifeless body, he felt his sanity ooze, drop after drop, into the pool of her blood. She was dead. Her only hope now was the guy who had stolen her from him.
The knock on the door filled Quinn with loathsome fury. Had he not already been in his demon form, he’d have transformed because the person on the other side of the door deserved what he had unwillingly subjected Cordelia to.
He flung the door open, growling at the winter faery who was keeping Cordelia’s heart beating. Jagger swept past Quinn to the corner of the room, kneeling down beside Cordelia’s torn-up body. His pale winter hue darkened. He shot to his feet, bringing up his leg and slammed his foot into Quinn’s stomach.
Quinn fell back in surprise, his demon exterior not so much as reddening as a result, but he felt on the verge of losing it and tearing Jagger’s head right off of his fey neck. But he checked himself. If Jagger’s heart stopped, so would Cordelia’s, and Quinn couldn’t allow that to happen.
“What the fuck, Quinn? What did you do to her?” Jagger’s voice was barely audible; his mood had turned from anger to desperation as he looked at the body on the floor again.
Quinn transformed back into his human form, revealing a mess of injuries and broken bones. “I had no choice. It was this or death.”
“Or death? She is dead, you moron!”
“No, she isn’t. Her heart is still beating.”
“Only because I’m beating it for her,” Jagger muttered.
“Only because I’m letting you beat it for her,” Quinn said quietly.
“She needs a healer.”
“Wander her back to the Academy. But hurry. Potomal’s team is on their way and will be here soon to collect her.”
“Potomal?”
“A Wanderer working with Katerina.” Quinn winced at the stabs of pain his human body was unable to dampen.
“What about you? What happened?”
“Cordelia didn’t go down without a fight, but never mind that. I’ll heal. I need you to beat me to within an inch of my life. Here, use this.” He handed Jagger a tire iron.
“Much as I would love to beat the hell out of you, why? If you’re afraid of what they’ll do to you when they find out you let Cordelia escape, why not just come back to the Academy?”
“No time. Plus, the best way for me to protect Cordelia is from the inside. Hurry.”
Jagger glanced down at Cordelia and then raised the iron bar.
