About Halo City
When a massive group of angels known as nephilim—half human, half angel—had been found by the Royal Council, they were taken to Halo City. Instead of cleansing the Earth with a flood, which had been done before, the Royal Council created a place just for this group of angels. Upon meeting the alkins, a particular one by the name of Davin, refused to give up on helping Michael deal with his struggles. Together, they discovered a strange being that would appear at the Crossroads at unexpected times. Souls wandering there is nothing new, but this one aged as time passed. Mystified, they both searched for answers while refraining from telling the Twelve about her. Who is this being that has enraptured Michael's attention? And will Michael finally forgive himself and find the happiness that he yearns to have?

Hearing only half of what he said, I concentrated on a light that had suddenly appeared over the dirt road. After the glow faded, a little girl appeared. She was about Alexa Rose’s age.
“That never happened before.” Davin seemed curious too.
“What never happened?” Moving quietly, we were now deeper into the grass…between where Halo City and Crossroads intersected.
“The light. I’ve never seen one here before.” Davin seemed flabbergasted.
“You mean you’ve been doing this too?”
“Well…I wanted to speak to one, but I never did. Cause…we’re not suppose to,” Davin gritted through his teeth as his tone became stern. “I don’t want to get in trouble.”
Ignoring him, I continued to gaze. This little girl had me under her spell. Something about her was captivating. I felt strangely connected to her as I watched her searching, looking lost and confused. Wanting to help her, I nudged forward, but I was stopped.
“Are you crazy? What part of ‘I don’t want to get in trouble’ didn’t you understand?”
“Davin.” I bored my eyes into his. “Don’t touch me and don’t stop me. I want to talk to her.”
Davin furrowed his brows and spoke. “Michael, you don’t have a thing for little girls, do you?”
“What?” I asked, feeling confused.
“You know…old men liking little girls. You’re not a pervert, are you?”
“No! What gave you that idea? You’re _____.”
We stopped arguing when the light blinded us, then started to fade. “No….” I whispered under my breath. I didn’t know why but I got extremely livid with him. I had missed my chance. He was always in my way…always trying to keep me on the right path. Then, when I realized Davin’s good intentions, I calmed down. “Davin…next time, don’t stop me.”
“Or you’ll what?” he challenged.
“Never mind.” I didn’t know how I knew; I just knew she would come back. Without thinking, I said loudly in my mind, “You’re a pain.”
Davin looked at me strangely. “I’m not a pain. And how did you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You spoke to my mind. You had a conversation with my mind and you didn’t even open your mouth.”
“You’re crazy. You’re hearing things.”
“Do it again.”
“No.”
“Chicken.”
There he went with that chicken word. “Fine.” And so I did, just to get him off my back. I said it loudly in my mind.
“What? I’m not a fart face,” Davin chuckled.

“I didn’t say that.”

About Eternity
Having happily ever after is never easy when evil lurks nearby. The fallen coming out of hiding is not a big concern, until Dantanian. Being one of God's first fallen angels, he is the evilest of his kind and concocts evil schemes to get Michael's attention. With Michael and Claudia's happiness on the line, the venators and the alkins must work together once again to save their friends. As death draws near to those captured by Dantanian, will the gang reach them in time? Or will Michael return to the dark angel he once was and destroy everyone he loves?

Michael turned to Davin. “Please…don’t talk. I really missed you, but let’s not ruin it.”
“Sorry, I’ll keep my mouth shut.” Davin let out a small weak chuckle, seeming to enjoy the humor between them even in their worst possible situation. “But one question.”
“What?”
“You really told Dantanian to smell your feet?”
“I guess I missed you so much that I thought of what you might’ve said if you were in my situation.”
Davin’s shed another tear. “You’re the ______, Michael. That was awesome. You’re sounding just like me.”
“I don’t know if I should be proud of that.”
Davin let out a small soft chuckle again. “Hey, Michael.”
“I told you not to talk anymore. I need to think.”
“Okay…but…I missed you…more.”
Those words tugged so deeply at Michael’s heart that it hurt, but it was a different kind of hurt. It was the kind that told him how much his friends meant to him, and how much he missed his family.
It was getting dark. The sun had gone home for the day. It meant another day without his precious family, another day Claudia would worry.
Under normal circumstances, they wouldn’t be able to feel the cold fall breeze, but they did tonight, for their bodies were more like humans than angels. As Michael’s body trembled from the cold, he tried to block the awful feeling that stung through his whole body. This only confirmed that he never wanted to be a human again, even though he’d wanted to be many times before he met the love of his existence.

In the huge warehouse, inside the big crate, inside a metal cage, four lights glowed in the darkness. The light that held them captive gave no warmth, no hope…only dread, death, and darkness. Michael began to realize there was nothing he could do.

Michael was so preoccupied with answering Claudia’s questions and trying to push away the pain that he wasn’t prepared for what Claudia did next. She turned, but luckily Michael was faster. Unsure if she caught a glimpse, he held her tightly in his arms so she couldn’t move or turn to see his face. He felt himself melt and burn in her touch.
He lost his breath when her hair brushed against his face. His emotions were running rampant—every emotion that could be felt was happening all at once. Michael didn’t know what to do. Closing his eyes, he took all of her in, trying to hold onto to her as long as he could. He needed to leave, but couldn’t get his body to listen.
Claudia remained still, enjoying his embrace but not knowing why, and was surprised that she felt some kind of mysterious connection to this angel. He was a complete stranger, yet his touch gave her ________. She knew he would have to leave. Her friends were most likely on their way, hoping to find her here since they were split up.
“I have to go. They’re almost here.”
Claudia wanted to ask a question, but she couldn’t open her mouth to speak. She felt lost in his hold. Slowly her right hand found its way to his face.
“You don’t give up, do you?” Michael chuckled lightly.
“No, I don’t,” she said, and ran her hand to feel every inch of his face. His brows were thick, his nose nicely defined, he had high cheekbones, and lips as soft as his feathers.
Michael closed his eyes, quivering, enjoying her caress, bringing back the good memories.
“Next time, I’ll know it’s you when we meet in the dark.”
Michael grinned, happy to hear her words. “Please be safe. I may not be there next time.”
“Oh,” she sighed, disappointed.
With one last tight squeeze, Michael soa
red into the clear blue sky and disappeared.
Beautiful, Claudia thought as she watched him ascend. “Just like Superman,” she giggled.

“Ahhh!” I pressed my hands to his chest. “Why are you such an ass?” I couldn’t believe I’d said it, but it felt so good! Then I thought, How does he bring out the worst in me? I was not an angry person, and I didn’t normally shoot out cuss words. Mom and Gamma had taught me better than that.
Unexpectedly, he gripped my wrists, moving them behind me, and drew me into him. My heart heaved in and out from being a breath away from his lips and from being exhausted from all the energy I was releasing. He set his eyes deeply into mine and exhaled. “Everything was just great until you walked into my life. I know who I am and my purpose in life, but you are making me confused. For the first time, I want more. The worst part of this is that I can’t have you, even if you allowed it.” He paused, searching for words. “I want you to ____ me, ‘cause if I knew that you ever cared about me that way, I would give up everything just to be with you. I don’t know why. And that scares me more than anything I’ve ever known. So there is the answer to your question. Satisfied?”
