The good Senator focused more attention to Jillian’s breasts than her face and Jeremy found his cavalier treatment of her angered him more than he wanted to admit.

It was obvious to Jeremy that Jillian had also noticed the Senator’s roving eyes, because her eyes narrowed fractionally, but she only smiled.

“I look forward to it.”

They watched him stride away to engage yet another young woman.

“How can you stand this?” Jeremy whispered and then took a large drink of champagne.

Jillian scanned the room. “It’s all part of the game.”

“Well then I officially hate this game. Think you’ll have to sleep with him to get what you want?” he said with a side glance.

Jillian grinned. “Probably,” she said and took a sip of her drink.

“If you do, you better get things in writing first. You’d most likely kill him in the process.”

E.L. Loraine
I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years. After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well.... But I stuck to it and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have six books in the series and am about to release book two of my new series Phantom Lives. My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, study and do it right. I believe that and live that way every day.

Last Call ~ Review

Last Call ~ Bad Habits #3
by Staci Hart
Publication Date: February 15, 2016
Once Rose Fisher makes a decision, that’s it. End of story.

Like when her ex, Patrick, dumped her out of the blue, then showed up with a super hot, tatted up sex kitten on his arm. Then it was over for good. The end. Poof. Dead to her. Except he was everywhere — down the hall, at the bar with their friends, worming his way into her dreams.

But with their friends paired off, they’re left alone more and more. Rose is determined to keep him friendzoned — doesn’t matter that he stares at her with a smolder that drops all panties in a ten foot radius. She’s over him, and she’ll prove it by getting back into the dating game, Patrick be damned.

Patrick Evans is no stranger to consequences. When your mother walks out, your dad drifts away. When you leave home, you’re on your own. And when you run away from the girl you love, you lose her. He finally has an opportunity to rebuild the bridge he burned, and it’s not one he’ll take for granted. But he’ll have to fight for her, even if it hurts. Even if it means he’ll walk away brokenhearted. Because deep down, he knows that she’s it for him.

The trick will be to get her to admit she feels it too.

Last Call is a bestselling standalone romantic comedy and third book in the Bad Habits series.

I loved this book!! It was intense, emotional, & filled with everyday life drama plus a whole lot of awesome characters who have you begging for more! Last Call's diverse group of friends had me laughing, crying, & shouting along their journey.

Then there are the antagonists who show up inviting chaos into the daily routine. I definitely enjoyed being on the outside looking in for those instances. It's always easier for the outsiders to judge & kick those to the curb though. I guess it's all about perspective really.

Fantastic story about a romance that could end badly or be triumphant...it's all up to the one calling the shots. Are you willing to go all in & risk heartache or possible bliss? Or would you choose to break it off before any potential pain occurs? There are no set rules in the game of love. These two making a decision & following through is the maker/breaker, & I enjoyed every bit of it!

Staci Hart
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

The Infinite Expanse by B.C. Powell
The Journals of Krymzyn #2
Publication date: March 31, 2015
Evil lurks in the desolate Barrens of Krymzyn. For millions of Eras, predators with insatiable cravings have prowled the wasteland. When a traitor of the Delta enters their realm, the solitary beasts may finally have a leader to unite them.

As a new order emerges in the Barrens, Chase and Sash begin their lives together. While Chase fights to prove he belongs in Krymzyn, the power inside Sash flourishes in ways no one could have imagined. But a vengeance from the wasteland is soon unleashed upon them.

After Chase is trapped deep in the Barrens, his only escape is into the Infinite Expanse. Unaware of the deathly perils that take shape there, he may be lost forever. For Sash to return him from the endless wilderness, she’ll have to harness a mystical energy not seen since the beginning of time.

Genres: Fantasy, New Adult, Science Fiction

An enormous scorpion-like creature creeps over the ledge of the Canyon. Carmine colored with eight legs, the Schorachnia is at least twenty feet long from its head to the end of its body. Two long, flexible tails swing wildly from its rear, both with pear-shaped orange stingers growing from the ends.

In the front of the creature’s body, two giant pinchers at the end of crab-like arms nimbly pluck at the flowers. Fiery round eyes in a pointy triangular face intently focus on the task. Without seeming to notice us, the creature holds its pinchers over its mouth and drips liquid onto its tongue.

“Nectar seeps from the flowers,” Sash says. “They take it without ever damaging the vines. That one is called Glutano.”

“How do you know which one is which?”

“By the color of their stingers,” she replies. “The same seven colors as in the hair of the Serquatine.”

“Is it a man or a woman?” I ask.

“A male. All the Schorachnia are male, just as the Serquatine are all female.”

“Why is he ignoring us?”

“He’s not,” she answers. “He’s testing your patience.”

As though he heard me, the creature’s face suddenly juts out from his body, connected by a long scraggly neck. When he swings his head towards us, red and orange flickers inside his eyes like flames dancing over a fire. Sash holds a hand out, showing the creature the rainbow over her palm, so I do the same.

The Schorachnia turns away from us and uses his claws to pinch more beads of nectar from the flowers. After pouring the fluid into his mouth, he retracts his head into his body. I jump backwards when he suddenly spins and charges at us.

Sash grabs me by the arm. “Never show fear in front of the Guardians,” she says calmly. “Only respect.”

The creature scurries across the crumbly red dirt and slides to a stop a few feet in front of me. While his eyes study Sash, both of his tails flail in the air behind him.

“Greetings, Glutano,” Sash says, bowing. “The Traveler Chase is here to venture into the Infinite Expanse.”

The Schorachnia doesn’t answer, but I flinch again when his head springs out and stops right in front of my face. His hypnotic eyes capture mine, absorbing my mind in their flames.

“This being is not of this world,” Glutano says in a dry and crusty voice, as though his throat is full of dirt.

Sash squeezes my arm and turns her face to me. When I glance into her eyes, I know the look she’s giving me. She’s telling me to speak for myself.

I refocus on the Guardian. “I wasn’t born in this world,” I say, “but it’s the world I belong to now.”

I immediately dig my feet into the grass and race across a meadow. As I sprint between two hills, I glance up at the sky. The scarlet light dims, the billows begin to swirl, and raindrops splatter against my face. Surrounded by full Darkness, I continue running until I enter the long valley that winds to the Empty Hill. I eventually reach the narrow gorge that leads to our habitat, but as I pass by, a smear of white catches the corner of my eye.
Grinding to a stop on the wet grass at the end of the ravine, I stare in the direction of our habitat. A black-veined beast leaps from a ridge and lands directly in front of the door. My eyes widen at the sight of the Murkovin one hundred feet in front from me. When his eyes shoot back at mine, I drop to one knee and plunge my fingers into the ground.
“Sash, Larn, Tork!” I blurt out. “Murkovin at Sash’s habitat!”
Red eyes flaring through the rain, the Murkovin charges at me. I drop my practice spear to the grass and rise into a crouch. As I clench my real weapon with both hands, every moment I spent sparring with Sash strobes through my mind. I have to anticipate, think, focus, but my body trembles with panic and my heartbeat throbs inside my head.
Bearing down on me in a sprint, the beast is ten feet away when he lunges his spear at my face. As the tip rockets towards me, I’m frozen in place, the world suddenly in slow motion. Waiting until the split second he’s off-balance, the moment before the point pierces my skin, I jerk my head to the side. The steel just grazes my hair before I uncoil in a frenzied spin.
While whirling my spear through the air, I lock my eyes on his head. Following my aim, the steel point slams straight into his skull. Light bursts around the shaft when the tip skewers his brain. Thrusting down with all my might, I crush his head against the ground.
I glare at the limp creature at my feet. Black blood spews from his head into the downpour of rain. I’m completely numb, unable to even feel my hands clamped around the shaft of my spear. Shaking from the rush of adrenaline, I feel no remorse at all from killing the beast. Sash’s words ring in my ears.
“When it’s kill or be killed, there’s no hesitation, no thought, and no regret.”
I snap my head to four more streaks of white on the hill above our habitat. The hideous creatures soar over the ridge and into the ravine.
“Shit!” I yell.
After ripping my spear from the skull of the corpse, I dash towards the Empty Hill. I may have killed one, but I won’t stand a chance against four.
Glancing over my shoulder as I run, I see all four Murkovin in pursuit. One suddenly blasts into dull beams of light. In an instant, the point of his spear gouges my calf, sending me sprawling to the ground. I slide to a stop on the slick grass and roll to my back.
With veins bulging from his spectral white arms, the beast rams his spear at my head. I swing my weapon up just in time to knock the point away from my face. Before either of us has time to make another move, a blur smashes into him and pounds him into the grass. In a flash, Sash’s spear splits his skull open. She wheels around to the other three Murkovin while I jump to my feet.
It’s not a battle. I wouldn’t even call it a fight. When Sash unleashes a torrent of death from her spear, it’s a massacre.

After watching Alexa blow up a precious stone, I was a little hesitant to try. She watched me, her foot tapping the floor repeatedly, until I picked out a pretty blue gemstone that matched my shirt. I held it in my right hand, placing my left hand over it just as Alexa had done. Here is where I thought my previous failed attempts would come in handy since I already knew what didn’t work. But it didn’t matter much after all. My magic, perhaps knowing it was about to be used for the first time, was waiting as impatient as a child kept inside on a rainy day. Unlike those previous attempts, I was finally able to find it, grasp a tendril and tug lightly. It, whatever it was, unspooled and began to move towards my hands. I looked up at Alexa, panic building in my chest, heart beating erratically as this energy moved through my body. It began to pool in my hands, where I should have been able to send it into the stone, but somehow it was blocked. My heart continued to race, getting faster and faster as the energy filled my hands. The pressure built until I was sure my hands would burst, when Alexa placed a hand on my wrist.
“Relax,” she said. “Let it flow.”
Something snapped in my brain, a mental block I had thrown up against magic being real, and finally, my power began to pour into the sapphire. It wasn’t long before I felt some resistance from the stone, as the energy flow slowed. I pulled back, somehow instinctively knowing how and my connection to the stone broke. In my hands, I held my very own power stone. Opening my hand, the gem sat on my palm, pulsing along with my heartbeat. I barked out a laugh, staring at the stone, then raised my head to look at Alexa.
It was real. It was all real. Everything they told me. I shook my head, still staring at the stone in my hand. The magic energy had retreated back into my body, but I could feel it pulsing inside my chest, refusing to be hidden again, at one time both foreign and completely natural.
