Fierce ~ Review

FIERCE by CLARISSA WILD
Published: January 25, 2014
Fight for your dreams. Fight for your life. Fight for love.

Nerdy girl Autumn Blakewood is the prime example of a goody two-shoes. She studies every night, is never late for class, and always follows the rules. She has never felt the need to step out of her comfort zone. That is, until she meets Hunter.

Hunter Bane is a cocky, confident bad-boy, who's nothing but trouble. He’s a dangerous distraction to everyone around him. Sexy and strong, Hunter enjoys the swooning effect he has on women. Especially those who aren't used to attention, like Autumn.

Autumn finds it hard not to give into Hunter’s advances, even though it all seems like a game to him. Trying to understand him is impossible, because he shrouds himself in mystery.
What she doesn't know is that Hunter has more baggage than anyone should have to carry. When she discovers he's in an illegal frat club to save the one person that matters to him, Autumn realizes this could mean the end of her undeniable connection to him. Even their lives are at risk.
But it's too late to turn back now ...

My Review:
3 Stars Not bad, not great., April 3, 2014
 *For Mature Audiences Only*
As I read I realized how well this title fits...Sometimes.
I don't like to give out spoilers, so I won't go into too much detail.
I had a bit of brain whiplash from the emotional tug-of-war these characters were having. It seems not just 1 or 2 of them either. In reference to Hunter Bane, he can be fierce. As a matter of fact he is during some of the story, unfortunately in others he totally is not. What is it about these "bad boys" that puts us under their spell? Whatever it is...Autumn Blakewood has it bad! Autumn's pretty much a recluse nerd type who is actually in college for the education. Almost immediately she's confronted by this "bad boy" & quickly finds out that things are not always as they seem. As the scene unfolded I was eager to see how this would play out although I had some Hmmmm moments. Unfortunately in many of those moments I found myself internally debating several issues. I really liked Autumn's character until all of her good decision making capabilities went out the window. Now don't get me wrong...I understand why the characters are slightly inconsistent being young adults this is not uncommon. Throw a new college routine in the mix & obviously we need to allow for growth & adaptation to the twists life has thrown at them. I simply do not believe things would have played out as presented in such situations, or possibly I just missed something along the way.
I very much appreciated the real-ness of Autumn & Hunter's "relationship", because they are very real in the fact that they each have emotional baggage, issues, & obstacles to overcome. However in some instances I wondered who in their right mind would do such a thing?
..............
I do love the idea ultimately conveyed...Never give up & show 'em how fierce you are!
