Hauntingly brilliant! I love this series!! After reading The Brown House I knew I had to read the others. This time around I was so wrapped up in the romance brewing that I somehow forgot this was not a paranormal romance leaving me in utter shock when Kayla's reality became known to us (again).
I screamed, "Why?!? WHY?!? Why?!?" Honestly ... I knew what was coming since hello it's in the blurb, BUT I was so enthralled in this new found happiness Kayla had found that I convinced my subconscious to believe she would get that happy ending I longed for her to have!! I flipped those pages so quickly searching, but the eery truth lurked just ahead. And ... BAM!!! Everything I feared came true!
This is a wonderfully written tale that will chill you to the bone. While the harsh reality of this story impacted me in a way I wasn't fully prepared for I am amazed at Sloat's ability to balance the emotions & turmoil with a haunting good read! I can't wait for the sequel in 2014!
