The Dead Days Journal Book Blitz

The Dead Days Journal by Sandra R Campbell
Publication Date: March 30th 2015

The daughter of a radical doomsday prepper, Leo Marrok spent her entire life preparing for the end. A skilled fighter and perfect marksman, Leo is her father’s second-in-command when Armageddon comes to pass. Together, they lead a group of survivors to a secure bunker deep in the Appalachian Mountains.

Vincent Marrok is willing to take extreme measures to repopulate their broken world. Leo’s refusal marks her as a traitor. With father and daughter at odds for the first time, their frail community is thrust into turmoil. Until the unthinkable happens, a blood-thirsty horde arrives. The impending attack will destroy all that they have worked for.

To protect her home and everything she believes in, Leo puts her faith in the arms of the enemy—a creature only rumored to exist—the one she calls Halloween. An alliance born out of necessity evolves into feelings Leo is ill-equipped to handle.

The Dead Days Journal is a post-apocalyptic story of love and family told through Leo Marrok’s first-hand account and the pages of Vincent’s personal journal, giving two very different perspectives on what it takes to survive.

Mature themes, adult language, sexual situations, violence and gore. 18+

I lifted my head when the closet door opened. Halloween slipped inside with a stack of blankets and a pillow tucked under one arm. The slim ray of candlelight went out again when the door latched shut. I listened as the lock slid slowly into place.
Halloween made almost no noise; there was just a faint rustle of fabric as he readied a makeshift bed. I strained my eyes, wanting so badly to see some movement in the pitch-black space of the closet. But without a speck of light in this small space, I saw nothing.
I clamped my eyes shut and fine-tuned my ears to his movements, and I pictured him adjusting the pillow under his head. Shutting the dark out behind closed lids made it easier for me to relax. I took a deep cleansing breath, and then another and another, while working up the courage to speak.
Don’t let your fear keep you in the dark. Say something!
“Are you hyperventilating?” Halloween’s gruff voice touched my face just before his fingers brushed loose strands of hair from my forehead. I jumped to my feet swallowing a scream—his bright eyes were so close.
After several more gulps of air, I forced my vocal cords into action. “I wasn’t before, but now I am!”
Halloween’s eyes rose above me. He made an unfamiliar sound, but if a grin crossed his lips, it wasn’t for me to see. “I brought blankets and a pillow. Get some rest.”
The last thing I wanted to do was sleep. Every muscle in my body ached from sitting too long on the concrete floor. Flicking my arms and legs around to get the blood circulating again, I circled around the two orange orbs in the closet using the walls as a guide, and I steeled my nerves for the conversation we were about to have.
“I know what’s wrong with me,” I said, taking another lap.
I managed three more steps before a barricade suddenly dropped, stopping me short. Assuming the invisible barrier was Halloween’s arm, I ducked to get around it.
“Do you?” he said mockingly.
Smug bastard! Of course I do!
I shot him a dirty look in the direction of his voice and hoped with all my heart that he saw the rage I’d flung his way. “Yeah, I do. Call it instinct or a woman’s intuition… Besides, Ben’s terrified for me, and there’d be no other reason…” My pacing grew more frantic. I was terrified, too, but I knew better than to let fear plant its meat hooks in me.
Panic leads to bad decisions, which will always end in stupid mistakes. “Rule your fear.” That’s what my father always told me. “It’s good to be scared. Fear will keep you sharp. But never, under any circumstances, give in to that fear.”
Funny thing—my father had done just that. Digging my boot heels into the concrete floor, I stopped in front of the only thing I could see: Halloween’s eyes. “Why did you tell them and not me? This is happening to me, not them!”

A few interesting facts about Author J.S. Scott
Author J.S.Scott trained and worked for years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist before becoming an Author.
She self published in April 2012 with no experience at all. “I put together my own bad covers and edited the stories myself. (Big mistake!) I used KDP Select when I first started and offered up the stories for free, alternating the freebies. To my surprise… I actually started selling some books.”  Then she really hit it when she started working on a serial romance trilogy that readers started to follow enthusiastically — The Billionaire’s Obsession, which she eventually packaged into a “complete set” last February, selling the lot for one very low price. “I was lucky enough to have the book sell very well… well enough to hit the USA Today and NYT Bestsellers. Since then, I’ve written complete novels that have also done well.”
All the books that she writes almost always feature an Alpha Male and have a happily ever after because she just can't seem to write them any other way!

From Origins ~ Review

From Origins ~ Descendant Prophecies #3
by Mary Ting
Publication Date: March 24, 2015

Skylar, Mason, and the other descendants embark a deadly quest to the underworld to confront the evil Hades, who has been plotting to kill off the descendants of all the gods.
On this journey, they soon discover that the ancient gods are not dead as once believed but are held captive in a secret location. In order to save the world from destruction at the hands of Hephaestus, the descendants must set out on a crusade to rescue the gods.
In the process, Skylar learns more about her bloodline and her powers, but there is also a heavy price to pay. The darkest forces known to man are about to return to reclaim their stolen kingdom.

LOVE love LOVE everything about this story! Mary Ting is repeatedly outdoing herself! I've been looking forward to this release since last October when I devoured book 2, From Deities. Oh it was soooo worth the wait! All of the characters I've missed came back with a bang! A few new ones popped in to visit as well adding even more adventure, drama, & suspense. While I eagerly awaited Mason & Sky's light show I could practically feel Mason's love shocks shooting through me! But...the best part was the unexpected twist that I hope means we will be getting much more of our beloved descendants & Gods very soon! Can. Not. Wait.

Retaliation by Imogen Rose
Bonfire Chronicles ~ Book #3
Publication Date: March 15, 2015

Ever since Bloody Fall, humans have lived in fear.

Even though the apparently senseless massacres have ended, President Elizabeth Ryan's administration has been under a cloud of disapproval for failing to bring the terrorists to justice.

She braces herself as a new spate of carnage is unleashed.

Cordelia and Faustine are recruited back into action as the supernatural agencies go on high alert. Has their nemesis re-emerged?

Her best yet!, March 30, 2015
With each new adventure I fall deeper in love with these characters. Each one reminding me why I love them so. Cordelia & Jagger are still my favorites, but I always enjoy Faustine & the others as well. Watching them grow up & mature is fascinating (& sometimes infuriating). I simply can not get enough of this fantastically complex world Imogen has created. And sheesh does she know how to leave us begging for more!?! This is definitely the best yet, & I can't wait for the next journey!

I kneeled down for a better look. Whatever it was, it was clearly alive, and it shirked away, obviously frightened out of its wits. Could it be one of those pets humans liked to keep around? I transformed back to my human state so the poor little thing wouldn’t have a heart attack. “Here,” I whispered gently. “I’m not going to hurt you. Come on out.”
“Demon?” a little voice whispered. It was clearly something supernatural.

“Yep, you?”

“Troll.”

Troll? I’d never met a timid one before. “What are you doing here?”

“I sorta live here.”

“Can you come out?”

The troll scurried from behind the vent, crawled out of the fireplace, and stood up beside the couch. It couldn’t have been more than eight inches tall. I’d never seen one so small before. It was clearly female, with a pink bow attached to her unkempt blond Afro. She was rather grubby, I guessed from her journey through the fireplace. She wore little green dungarees bedazzled with pink rhinestones. And she had the most enormous green eyes that seemed to glow. “What’s your name?”

“I don’t have one.” Now that she wasn’t whispering, her voice sounded like a bee trying to speak human. “None of the underground trolls do,” she continued. “I guess we’re not important enough.” She lowered her eyelash-devoid eyelids, her lips trembling.

I touched her hand gently with my finger. “What would you like to be called, if you could choose your own name?”

“Anything?”

“Yes, anything at all.”

“Humm. That’s hard. It’s hard to commit to a name. What’s yours?”

“Cordelia.”

“Huh? That’s kind of old-fashioned. Where did that come from?”

Old-fashioned? That troll cheekiness didn’t take long to surface. “Cordelia is a family name; I’m named after my grandmamma. I like it, and wouldn’t want to be called anything else.”

“None of my family have ever had names,” she said, her lower lip trembling again. “Each subterranean troll family has a number, assigned by the Don. Then each family member gets given a letter. I am 4695h.”

“That doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. Tell you what. Pick a name you want me to call you, and if you don’t like it, you can change it as many times as you want until you find one that’s ‘you.’”

“Humm.” She looked confused. “I can’t think of any nice names. Can you pick one for me?”

“Sure. How about…” I tried to think of a simple one, since she was unfamiliar with names. “Lucy?”

She nodded slowly. “I can… maybe… do that… Lucy.”

“Well, Lucy. What are you doing here?”

“Like I said, I live here. When I don’t live at home, that is. Do you want to see the room I sleep in when the demons are not around? It’s the same one that Dorian uses.”

“Sure, in a moment. Which demons are you talking about?”

“Dorian and his soap buddies mostly. And his son, Luke. I like Luke. He’s kinda hot.”

“When was the last time they were here?”

“Dorian was here a couple of hours ago.” She started fidgeting, lowering her eyelids and shifting from leg to leg.

“Do you know where he went?”

She shook her head. Then she pursed her lips.

“What is it?”

She stared at her feet.

“Lucy?”

She smiled. “I like that.”

“Focus, Lucy. Tell me everything. What’s with the odd expression?”

“Well,” she whispered, her voice so low that I had to bend down to hear her, “something bad happened.”

“Like?”

She raised her hands. “I don’t know.”

“Come on, Lucy! How do you know something bad happened, then?”

She suddenly crawled under the couch like a bug, and just as I was about to grab her tiny ankles and haul her out, she slithered back toward me—dragging something heavy.

I couldn’t get a good look at it. “What is that?”

“It’s Dorian’s arm,” she puffed, as I grabbed it, pulling it out—a bloody, shredded demon limb.

The Portal Chronicles Soundtrack Single!
About a year ago, when Imogen Rose, author of the cult bestselling series, the Portal Chronicles, was surfing YouTube she stumbled upon a song, “If We Fall” by SHE SAID SAVE ME, and instantly fell in love with both the lyrics and the male vocal. She put the song on her writing playlist and looked up the Toronto-based band on Facebook… and liked their page. A while later, Imogen received a PM from Joe Vercillo, saying that if her books were ever adapted for film or TV she should feel free to use his music. She had no idea who he was, but looked him up. Imagine her fan girl sqee moment when she discovered that he was the lead vocalist for SHE SAID SAVE ME! Imogen and Joe have been Facebook friends ever since.

The Portal Chronicles starts off with a serendipitous meeting in a London pub, which propels the lives of the characters into a time warp of what-ifs. During the prologue, which is the key to the story, Rupert is humming a song in that London pub where Olivia and he seal their fate. Imogen Rose always wondered what he was singing. Until late one night, when she closed her eyes and “heard” it. Imogen wrote the lyrics and SHE SAID SAVE ME put it to music.

What better day than Valentine’s Day to release this song that defines the romance that is PORTAL?
